NICK TAYLOR
Nick Taylor joins the East High football coaching staff as the program's Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach. Taylor is entering his 18th year of coaching.
Most recently, Taylor was the defensive coordinator at Alfred State College (N.Y.). Prior to that, Taylor served as the defensive coordinator and the academic accountability coordinator at Briar Cliff University. He coached the team to 76 takeaways in three seasons and the team ranked 36th in the nation in rush defense (2015) and 37th in sacks (2015).
The spring before heading to Briar Cliff, Taylor served as an assistant coach with the Salina Bombers indoor football team, overseeing the squad’s offensive line.
Prior to Briar Cliff, Taylor spent six years as the assistant head coach/defensive coordinator at Bethany College (Lindsborg, Kan.). Other duties included strength & conditioning coordinator, team community service coordinator, and intramural director. His defense at Bethany, ranked 3rd in the NAIA in pass defense (2007) 14th (2011), and 15th (2012) and ranked 23rd in total defense in 2007.
Other collegiate coaching stops for Taylor included Eureka College (Eureka, IL) and Morningside College (Sioux City, IA).
Collegiately, Taylor played at Sterling College (Sterling, KS). In 1999, the center was selected to play in the All-American Bowl. Taylor earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Sterling and later his master’s degree in sports science with an emphasis in sport coaching from the United States Sports Academy.
Taylor lives in Sioux City with his wife, Trace, and daughter, Maggie.
