Jay Weakland is returning to the Sioux City East High School Football Program to coach the offensive line. Coach Weakland spent the past three seasons coaching the Tight Ends and Tackles at Morningside College while being a part of a coaching staff that won Back 2 Back National Championships and 3 GPAC Conference Championships. He was also the Head JV Football Coach for the 2018 & 2019 seasons. While at Morningside, Coach Weakland coached two First Team All-Americans & nine GPAC All Conference players.
Prior to coaching at Morningside College, Coach Weakland was the Offensive Line Coach for the Sioux City East Football Program from 2010 through the 2016 season. Coach Weakland has had many of his offensive lineman selected to the All-District, All-City, All-Northwest Iowa and All-State Teams. He also had the pleasure of coaching three Shrine Bowl Players (Travis Munn 2012, Jon McReynolds 2013, and Michael Stibbs 2017). Coach Weakland’s offensive line help the Black Raiders make six straight playoff appearances (2010 – 2015) while winning the 2011 MRAC Conference Championship.

I am super excited to be returning to the Black Raider Football Coaching Staff. This will be my 24th season coaching the great game of football. This will be my 15th year as a guidance counselor (my 9th year at Sioux City East High School). I live in Sioux City, Iowa with my wife Darci and our two son’s (Noah & Parker).
