Spetlar Tonga spent the last 5 seasons with Lawton-Bronson, 3 years as the Linebackers coach and 2 with the Defensive line. In 2015 he was named Class A, District 2’s Assistant Defensive Coach of the Year. Prior to Lawton-Bronson, Spetlar spent 9 seasons on the Briar Cliff University coaching staff, eight as the Linebacker coach and one with the Defensive Backs.
After 10 years of playing arena football, 9 seasons with the Sioux City Bandits and 1 with the Omaha Beef, Spetlar retired in 2013 as the Bandits All-Time tackling and tackles for loss leader. After his playing career, he coached the Sioux City Bandit linebackers for two seasons. Spetlar was a part of the 2011, 2012 and 2015 Championship teams!
Spetlar, a 1998 graduate of Truman High School in Independence, MO served a church mission for 2 years prior to attending Morningside College in 2001 where he played linebacker.
Spetlar is employed by the Sioux City Community School District in Operation and Maintenance.
